Is Your Cash In A Shoebox Under Your Bed?
Shoplifting, smash and dash, armed robbery and employee theft have threatened the profit margin of stores of brick and mortar for some time. With the advance in electronic surveillance equipment and electronic product tracking devices the real life edifices that purvey items to a product hungry world have taken a major step in combating loss due to theft. Along with all these electronic advances have come an ever growing army of internet hackers and midnight crackers. This sometimes trained and often self-taught band of digital desperados can clean you out in a way that the cat burglars of old could never do. They can slip in silently and steal the most important thing you have, your client list. These internet insurgents sometimes have nothing better to do than deposit a nasty virus on your server and laugh as it destroys years of hard work. The tools to combat these technical terrorists are available from many sources; anti-virus software, firewalls, encrypted database capabilities and tools that will help track these digital dissidents. The most expensive thing you can do is not protect yourself.

Are You Tracking Them Or Are They Tracking You?
Every electronic impulse you send offers the opportunity for the less than honest to turn on their electronic vacuum cleaner and suck your info into their database. And the sad thing is that some of the spam you get accosted with is coming from the people making every effort to steal everything you own. There can be no doubt that next to actual online theft the deluge of spam that insults anyone with a brain has diminished the effectiveness of the most powerful tool the world has yet to see; the internet. Anti-spam software as well as the need to never release the email addresses of your important clients represents a very important means of protecting you, your reputation and your clients. If you are running your own server make sure no one can hack into it and bounce their spam off it and make it look like you are the spammer.

It Isn’t Only Gold That Is Mined
As a battery of Barracuda’s hatch each day on the internet they create more and more online public websites aimed at profiting by stealing your information. That crossword puzzle you do everyday, or just the innocent act of surfing the web looking for information that is important to you opens you and your computer to an unwanted invasion by one of these data mining operations. They will write commands into your registry files that will search your hard drive and send the information to their collection point. This data mining will go on until you figure how to repel their unwanted invasion. While they are there can steal credit card numbers, passwords, email addresses or addresses and phone numbers of friends or clients. Basically the can steal anything on your hard drive. Diligence is the only way to battle these thieves. You will need at least two different spyware programs along with your antivirus program and you will need to run them often. How people can be allowed to openly steal is certainly a puzzling reality but unfortunately the internet is beyond the understanding of legislators so self protection is the only way.
