Stonestown. Lakeshore homes typically have meticulously cared for yards displaying the feeling of pride of homeowners in this Lakeshore neighborhood. This middle class neighborhood consists mainly of apartments but you will find a number of single-family houses and condos. Most of the homes here were built after WWII and are nestled into the greenery that is extensive in this district. Fog and cool temperatures tend to dominate the summers here but the winters are mild. As is common in other areas of the city, go a few blocks in any direction and the type and style of homes changes.
Lakeshore is bounded by Sloat Boulevard and Stern Grove Park to the north, Junipero Serra Boulevard to the east, the San Francisco County line to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

Lakeside
This little neighborhood sits behind San Francisco State University is a fresh area typified by well-maintained homes with nice flower gardens.

Merced Manor
This neighborhood is made up mostly of contemporary condos and large homes. Lakeside, despite its name, is not on the lake. This neighborhood is located behind San Francisco State University, and the homes have charming picket fences surrounding tidy rose gardens. Merced Manor is located just south of Sloat Boulevard and Stern Grove.
Lake Merced
This is another small area made up of modern big homes and condos, located just east of the San Francisco Zoo.
Stonestown.
This unique neighborhood sits in formally agricultural lands and boasts the fourth largest combined high-rise apartment complex and shopping center in the US. This is the only suburban shopping center in San Francisco county. Stonestown is located just north of San Francisco State University.
Parkmerced
This small neighborhood is the housing project known by the same name. These twelve story apartments were originally built fort the aged just after World War Two but are now open to all age groups. This housing complex is located south of San Francisco State University.
