San Francisco is in an area of remarkably varied geography that helps create a great number of mini climates. The winds in the area are distributed above the hills and along the little valleys that lie in their shadows. The terrain here creates marked differences in climate conditions from neighborhood to neighborhood or even from hill to hill.

Alamo Heights 225 Feet Great Views
Alamo Square Park is located on this small hill. The small park is bounded by Fulton Street to the north, Steiner Street to the east, Hayes Street to the south and Scott Street to the west.

Anza Vista Hill 325 Feet
A small neighborhood of mostly single family homes located on top of this small hill. Roughly bounded by Terra Vista Avenue to the north, St. Joseph's Avenue to the east, Anza Vista Avenue to the south and Central Avenue to the west.

Bernal Heights 500 Feet Great Views
This high hill is circled by the oddly shaped oblong Bernal Heights Boulevard which can be accessed by a number of surrounding side streets.

Billy Goat Hill 400 Feet Great Views
This hill can be accessed at Duncan Street and Castro Street, take Duncan Street east off Diamond Street. The high point is located about 5 blocks north of Billy Goat Hill Park.

Buena Vista Heights 575 Feet Great Views
This hill lies within Buena Vista Park. The park itself is bounded by curving streets with Haight Street to the north, Buena Vista Terrace to the east, Buena Vista Avenue East to the south and Buena Vista Avenue West to the west. You can reach the entry to the park trail at the intersection of Lyon Street and Haight Street.

Candlestick Hill 375 Feet Great Views
This hill lies in Bayview Park and is also called Bayview Park hill. The hill is surrounded by oblong Bayview Park Road. The hill is east of Candlestick Park (3com Stadium) You can access this hill by taking Key Street east off Third Street following this street until you reach the hill.
Castro Hill 407 Feet
This hill is located in the Castro District. To access it take 22nd Street west off of Castro Street and go to the corner of Collingwood Street and 22nd Street.

Cathedral Hill 200 Feet Landmark
This hill can be seen by locating St. Mary's Cathedra which sits on it. This hill is bounded by Geary Boulevard to the north, Gough Street to the east Ellis Street to the south and Cleary Street to the west. The cathedral is one block north of Jefferson Square.

City College Hill 350 Feet
City College of San Francisco Science Building sits on this hill. A beautiful campus with the hill sitting inside Science Circle. You can access Science Circle by taking Phelan Avenue north off of Ocean Avenue, the circle is directly east of the reservoir.

Clarendon Heights 850 Feet Great Views
This is one of the tallest hills in San Francisco and the 977-foot Sutro To wer that sits atop it is the highest point in San Francisco.Take Dellbrook Avenue southeast off Clarendon Avenue, then take La Avanzada Street east off of Dellbrook Avenue, follow La Avanzada Street to the top of the hill where you will find the Sutro Tower.

College Hill 200 Feet
This hill is bounded by College Avenue to the north, Mission Street to the east, St. Mary's Avenue to the south and San Jose Avenue to the west.

Corona Heights 510 Feet Great Views
This hill is bounded by a diamond of streets formed by 15th Street to the northeast, the Randall Museum on the southeast, Museum Way on the southwest and Roosevelt Way on the northwest. College Avenue to the north, Mission Street to the east, St. Mary's Avenue to the south and San Jose Avenue to the west. You can access this hill from several points around the diamond.

Dolores Heights 216 Feet
This small hill is bounded by 24th Street to the north, Fair Oaks Street to the east, 25 Street to the south and Dolores Street to the west. The hill is nearest the junction of Jersey Street and Dolores Street on the east side of Dolores.

    Edgehill 700 Feet Great Views
Edgehill is located northwest of Mt. Davidson Park and sits in a small square created by Edgehill Way. To get there take Laguna Honda Boulevard southeast to Vasquez Avenue, turn southwest on Vasquez, go to Garcia Avenue and turn south, follow Garcia to Edgehill Way, follow Edgehill Way to its end.

Eureka Peak 904 Feet Fantastic Views
This is the northern peak of Twin Peaks. Follow Twin Peaks Boulevard to its end. This street circles both peaks of Twin Peaks. To the north of Eureka Peak is the easy view point that is enclosed by Christmas Tree Point Road. This is an outcropping of land called Christmas Tree Point.

Excelsior Heights 315 Feet
A small hill overlooking John McLaren Park in the Visitacion Valley District. It can be accessed from the intersection of Mansfield Street and Burrows Street.

Forest Hill 775 Feet Great Views
Forest Hill is tall hill in San Francisco, located above Mendosa Avenue just off 10th Avenue. This is a worthwhile area to vista for great views of this unique and well designed neighborhood.

Golden Gates Heights Park 654 Feet
To access this hill take 14th Avenue to Quintara Street, east on Quintara to Funston Street. Park there and cross the street. This hill is bounded by Rockridge Drive to the north, 12th Avenue to the east, Quintara Street to the south and 14th Avenue to the west.

Gold Mine Hill 679 Feet Great Views
A hill sitting in the Diamond Heights District off Diamond Heights Boulevard, take Gold Mine Drive to south off of Diamond Heights Boulevard then take Ora Way south to the top of the hill.

Grand View Park 665 Feet Great Views
An odd shaped circle is created around this hill by 14th Avenue to the northeast and southeast and by 15th Avenue on the southwest and northwest. You can access this hill referred to as Turtle Hill by some at the intersection of Moraga and 14th Avenue.

Holly Hill 274 Feet
This pretty little hill is circled by Holly Park Circle. To get there take Appleton Avenue east off Mission Street, drive until you hit Holly Park Circle.

Hunter's Point Ridge 275 Feet Great Views
The peak of this little hill is called Hilltop Park and offers some great views of San Francisco Bay. It is located at the intersection of Progress Street and Newcomb Avenue.

Kite Hill 375 Feet Great Views
In Kite Hill Park you may see an American Kestrel circling overhead hunting for dinner. This hill can be easily accessed form the corner of 19th Street and Yukon Street.

Lafayette Heights 378 Feet Landmark
This hilltop is enclosed in Lafayette Square Park, bounded by Washington Street on the north, Gough Street on the east, Sacramento Street on the south and Laguna Street on the west. This is a very historic section of San Francisco and this hill is surrounded by a number of historic buildings.

Laurel Hill 350 Feet Historic Spot
This small hill was at one time a cemetery for some of San Francisco's pioneers. It is located east of Laurel Street on Lupine Avenue.

Liberty Hill 400 Feet Historic Spot
This small hill is bounded by 21st Street on the north, Sanchez Street on the east, Hill Street on the south and Noes Street on the west. Her you will enjoy the gardens and old architecture. This area is an example of some of the oldest Victorian building in San Francisco.
